Giving

Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.

Mission News (September 2026)

  1. Pray for God's continued protection over S&C as they serve and live on the field. May they experience His faithfulness in both the opportunities and challenges they face, and receive strength and wisdom for each day. Pray also for their relationships with local believers and friends, that the work of the Gospel may continue to move forward according to God's purposes.

  2. Please pray for H&P's university ministry and Saturday community Chinese and English classes. Pray that God will watch over the new students and young children, helping them experience the love of Christ, and giving H&P wisdom and opportunities to share the gospel with them. Also pray for a co-worker family who have decided to stay and serve long-term, that God will prepare the way ahead and help them experience His faithfulness in their ministry.

  3. Give thanks for God's faithfulness as Rev Janet has served in Sri Lanka for the past eight years. Pray for God's guidance and protection as she prepares to retire in January and hands over the ministry, and that Pastor Du and his wife will receive their work visas and be able to continue the ministry in Sri Lanka. Pray also for Janet as she enters this new season of ministry, that she will have opportunities to walk alongside her family and share the gospel with her children and grandchildren.

  4. Pray that the Lord will continue to guide H&Y in this season of preparation and daily life, providing for their studies, work, and family responsibilities. May He give them patience as they wait for His timing, clear guidance for the road ahead, and a growing experience of His provision and grace in their everyday lives.

  5. Pray for Nic: Give thanks for God's work in the lives of the students. Pray that they will continue to live out what they have received and be witnesses for the gospel on campus. Also pray that God will continue to use Nic's recent ministry in Fiji and bring about deeper spiritual life among university students there.

  6. Give thanks for what God has been doing through this year's Mission Month, and for the responses received so far. Pray that God will continue to stir our hearts as we prayerfully consider how we can respond to His call and take part in His mission. As the response deadline approaches on 27 September, pray that every response will flow from a love for Christ and a commitment to the gospel, and that God will guide our church in the path He has prepared for us.

Prayer Items for this Week

  • Pray that when frustration or fatigue rises after long seasons of faithful service, we would slow down and listen carefully to God's instructions rather than reacting out of our own past experience.

  • Pray for grace to trust God's word even when it seems to contradict what has "worked before" — that we would choose obedience over familiar patterns of self-reliance.

  • Pray that, like the Israelites at Kadesh, we would bring our complaints and needs honestly to God, while trusting that He provides even when we have not fully honoured Him in our response.
