Giving

Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.

Prayer Items for this week:

  • May we be reminded that Christ brings life where there is despair, and hope where there is sorrow. Pray that we would trust in His compassion and power and experience His renewing grace in our own lives.

  • Pray for those preparing to be baptised, that their faith may be strengthened and their testimony be a clear witness to God’s saving grace. May the baptism service be a joyful celebration and an encouragement to the whole church.

  • Pray for brothers and sisters who are physically unwell or weary, that the Lord would grant healing, strength, and peace. Give thanks that Pastor Ernest Kwok has completed chemotherapy and pray for his continued recovery. Remember also Steve as he undergoes chemotherapy and targeted therapy, asking God to make the treatment effective, reduce side effects, and sustain him and his family with peace and hope.

2. Roof Replacement Project Summary Report: Thank the Lord, the roof replacement project was successfully completed in December last year. In addition to replacing the roof, an indoor access hatch was also added. The total cost of the project was $192,642.15. The church expresses its gratitude to the Building Maintenance Team for their help and support during the planning and construction phases. The Maintenance Team will review the 2023 Building Report to determine the next steps, such as any necessary repairs to the exterior walls, followed by repairs and finishing of damaged interior walls. Monthly Mission Prayer Items:

  • Pray for the four brothers and sisters from our church preparing to serve in Sri Lanka. Ask God to guide their training, bless their fundraising efforts, and prepare their hearts and ministry for the people they will serve.

  • Thank God for S & C and the work He is doing through them. Pray for the safety of their children and for their smooth and protected travel back to the mission field at the end of this month.

  • Pray for H & P as they serve in community classes and the university student centre, that God would bless the Thai and Burmese students, helping them encounter the truth of life and grow in faith. Pray for continued connection with Pleng as she returns home, and ask God to grant wisdom and preparation for H’s preaching, that the words spoken may build up the church.

  • Pray for Reverend Janet’s health and healing from heel pain, and for wisdom and memory as she continues learning Sinhala to share the gospel. Ask God to guide her ministry in Sri Lanka, including the preparation for the Sydney short-term team, the translation and printing of gospel booklets into Tamil, the recruitment of Sunday school teachers, and the outreach to the Chinese community at the Beruwala gem market.

  • Thank God for H & Y’s faithful service and dedication to His mission. Pray for their safety and protection, especially amid recent security concerns, and that God would guide and strengthen them as they continue their ministry.

  • Thank God for Nic’s mission in Taiwan and the lives touched through his witness. Pray that those he met would continue to grow in faith, and that Nic and his team would be strengthened as they serve in Wellington.

Prayer Items for this week:

  • Pray that we, like God’s people in the wilderness, would learn to rely fully on Him, humble ourselves, and allow Him to reveal and transform the intentions of our hearts.

  • Please continue to pray for Steve Gutry as he completes his cancer treatment. Give thanks that his recent scans show stable or reduced tumours with no new metastases. Pray that God would sustain him through the remaining chemotherapy and targeted therapy, minimise side effects, preserve his strength and peace, and fill both Steve and Grace with hope and assurance in His care.

  • Pray for our missionaries this month (see above), asking the Lord to protect their health, strengthen them in every challenge, guide their ministries, and use their words and actions to bring more people to know His love and salvation.
