Giving

Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.

Prayer Items for this Week

  • Pray that we would be people who do not grow weary in doing good, trusting that God sees every act of kindness — however small — and that His harvest comes in His timing. May we be especially generous to our brothers and sisters in Christ, building one another up in love.

  • Pray for the Sri Lanka Short-Term Mission Team (Pastor Herman Yeung, Mance Chan, Kallen Chan, and Oliver Kuik) as they depart in just two weeks. May God grant them unity, strength, and joy as they prepare to serve alongside Rev Janet Tam. Pray that every act of kindness and every word shared would point people to Jesus.

  • Pray that our church would be known in our community as a people who do good — not to earn favour, but out of love for God and others. May the Grill & Chill and Mid-Autumn Festival Outreach be opportunities to show Christ's warmth and welcome to those who don't yet know Him.

Mission News (June 2026):

  1. Pray for the Sri Lanka Short-Term Mission Team (3–14 July) — Pastor Herman Yeung, Mance Chan, Kallen Chan, and Oliver Kuik — as they enter the final stages of preparation. Ask God to unite the team, strengthen them physically and spiritually, and prepare their hearts to serve faithfully alongside Rev Janet Tam. Pray also for wisdom in the final planning and logistics, and that the gifts and supplies being prepared will be a blessing to those they meet. May God use this trip to encourage His people and advance the gospel in Sri Lanka.

  2. Pray for S & C as they continue serving faithfully on the mission field. Ask God to grant them wisdom and discernment as they minister in their local context, and to encourage them through seeing spiritual growth in the lives of those they serve. Pray also for God's protection and sustaining grace for their family.

  3. Pray for H & P during this busy season of ministry. Ask God to bless the four short-term workers who will be serving alongside them, and grant them wisdom as they coordinate various ministry opportunities. Pray that the community language classes and school outreach programmes will help build meaningful relationships with students, parents, and teachers, creating opportunities to share Christ's love. Also pray for strength and endurance as they continue serving in a demanding environment.

  4. Pray for Rev Janet Tam and the Sri Lankan Chinese Church following the funeral service for Rev Yang in May. Ask God to continue comforting Rev Yang's family and the church community as they grieve his loss. Pray that the Lord would strengthen Rev Janet in her ministry responsibilities, provide wisdom and unity for the church, and raise up faithful workers to help shepherd and lead the congregation in the days ahead.

  5. Give thanks for God's faithfulness in leading H & Y through this season of transition. Pray for wisdom and perseverance as they continue their studies and prepare for future ministry opportunities. Ask God to provide suitable employment, guide their next steps, and use this season of equipping to prepare them for His purposes among the nations.

  6. Give thanks for Nic Yao's visit to Auckland and the opportunity to share about his ministry with our English Service. Pray that God would encourage him through fellowship with the church and continue to strengthen him as he serves students at the university. Ask the Lord to raise up faithful student leaders, draw more students to Christ, and provide for all his ministry and financial needs.
