5.  Good Friday Reflection Service – 2026
You are warmly invited to join us for a reflective Good Friday evening.
Date: Friday, 3 April 2026
Time: 7:30pm – 9:00pm
Location: Church New Wing
Good Friday is a time to pause, to remember, and to reflect on the depth of Christ’s love shown through His suffering on the cross. This year, we will focus on how Jesus’ suffering speaks into our own burdens.
Through Scripture, guided reflection, and moments of quiet and prayerful response, we hope to deepen our understanding of the burdens, struggles, questions, and weariness that each of us carries, as we view them through the lens of the cross.
All are welcome. We look forward to journeying with you.

6. Finance Department Notice:
The Finance Department will issue donation receipts for the 2025–2026 financial year (1 April 2025 – 31 March 2026) in late April. To ensure that the name and email address on the receipts are accurate, first-time donors, or those who have changed their email address in the past 12 months, or have not previously received receipts by email, are kindly requested to send their IRD-registered name and email address to accounts@holywordchurch.org.nz. For enquiries, please contact Katie Li or Daisy Poon. All information will be used solely for the purpose of issuing church offering receipts.
7. Reimbursement Reminder: As time is required for the auditing of the 2025–2026 church accounts, all departments are requested to submit expense reimbursements to the Finance Department by 10 April at the latest. Expenses submitted after this date will be recorded under the next financial year. Thank you for your attention.

8. Daylight Saving Reminder: Daylight saving will end next Sunday (5 April). Please remember to set your clocks back by one hour on Saturday night.

Giving

Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.

Prayer Items for this week:

  • As we reflect on the message we heard this morning, pray that God would grow in us a heart of compassion and willingness to serve. May we be attentive to His prompting, overcome barriers that hold us back, and learn to love others sacrificially.

  • Pray for next week’s Good Friday and Baptism combined service, that our hearts would be prepared to remember Christ’s sacrifice and celebrate new life in Him. May it be a meaningful time of worship and a powerful witness to God’s saving grace.

  • Pray for brothers and sisters who are physically unwell or emotionally weary, that the Lord would grant healing, strength, and peace. Remember Steve as he undergoes chemotherapy and targeted therapy; ask God to make the treatment effective, reduce side effects, and sustain him and his family with His grace, comfort, and hope.

4. Finance Department Update: We thank everyone for your support of the Overseas Mission (M4) offering. The Finance Department has recently disbursed the funds, according to the budget plan, to Smile Lanka School. May the Lord use this ministry as a channel of the gospel, so that many may come to receive salvation.

5. Facilities Update: Maintenance and servicing for all 23 air-conditioning units in the church have been completed, and a new air-conditioning unit has been installed in the kitchen. Missing remote controls have also been replaced. As a gentle reminder, after using church equipment or items, please return them to their original place for others’ convenience and switch them off to save electricity, as we care for God’s house together.
6. Care Parking Spaces: Starting from 5 April, four care parking spaces will be designated on the right-hand side of the church gate car park for the elderly or those with special needs. Vehicles must display a valid care parking permit on the dashboard. If you need to use these spaces, please contact Debbie Ng from the Caring Department.

Prayer Items for this week:

  • As we reflect on the message this morning, pray that God would guard our hearts from comparison and envy. May we trust in His goodness, rejoice in His grace, and learn to be content with what He has given us.

  • Pray that as we approach Good Friday and Easter, our hearts will be prepared to remember Christ’s sacrifice and celebrate His resurrection. May we be drawn to encounter the gospel afresh and deepen our faith and gratitude.

  • Pray for the Sri Lanka short-term mission team—Pastor Herman, Mance, Kallen, and Oliver—as they continue their preparation. Ask the Lord to unite them, guide them, and use them to be faithful witnesses as they serve alongside Rev Janet Tam.
