Giving

Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.

Prayer Items

  • Sermon – Seek the Flourishing of the City! (Jeremiah 29:1-14): Pray that we would seek the peace, prosperity, and spiritual renewal of our communities, trusting in God’s plans for hope and a future.

  • Special General Meeting (SGM): Pray for unity, wisdom, and God’s guidance as we discuss and decide on our Constitution updates.

  • Baptism: Give thanks for those preparing for baptism and pray that their faith would grow deeper as they publicly declare their commitment to Christ.

  • Pray for Steve: The doctor confirmed that the newly discovered colon tumour is not a recurrence of the old cancer but a new growth, which can be removed by surgery. The mass on the liver requires further checks, but the doctor is not too concerned. Please pray for:

    • A clear MRI scan in the coming two weeks, especially for clarity on the liver mass.

    • The upcoming colon tumour surgery — that it will go smoothly and not be as complex as the last surgery.

    • God’s continued mercy and guidance throughout the whole treatment process, including the arrangement of chemotherapy afterwards.

Mission News

  1. Mission Month: Please pray for our Mission Month, themed “Changing Lives, Reaching the World.” Each congregation has invited missionaries from various mission fields to share God’s Word and their life testimonies. Pray that God would use this month to ignite a passion for missions among brothers and sisters, stir hearts to care for missionaries, intercede for unreached people groups, and be willing to commit to the Great Commission.

  2. S & C: Recently, S has been traveling frequently between two cities for ministry, resulting in much weariness. C has been busy with administrative work and serving coworkers, students, and parents. Pray that the Lord would grant them good health and spiritual vitality to shepherd believers and lead people to Christ.

  3. H & P: They have been back in New Zealand reporting on their mission work for some time. Last week, P returned to the field to continue the unfinished work, while H remains in New Zealand visiting churches and sharing about missions to inspire believers. Please pray for the upcoming third session of the mission training course at the Mission House, for the university student activity center, and for their cross-cultural ministries.

  4. Reverend Janet Tam: Pray that the Lord would grant her wisdom as she learns to read and translate the Gospel into Sinhala, so she can more effectively share the gospel with the local people. Also, please pray for good sleep quality and sufficient rest for her.

  5. H & Y: As summer begins, they are entering a busy season of visitation and ministry. Pray for their health and for wisdom as they care for and minister to the unreached people they’ve previously connected with. They specifically request prayer for the recent atrocities committed against the Druze and Christian communities in Syria. Pray for God to restrain the violence and grant peace to those fleeing the massacres.

  6. Tanzania and Ethiopia: Please remember the church coworkers and leaders in Tanzania and Ethiopia. Pray that the Lord would strengthen them and empower them to lead the churches, shepherd the flock, and work together in unity to advance the gospel.

  7. Nicholas Yao: Please continue to pray for the new believers from the recent youth camp—that their faith would be strengthened. Pray also for a revival of the Christian movement in Wellington, that more people would be encouraged to share the gospel. Additionally, pray for his upcoming 6-week short-term mission trip to Taiwan during the summer, and for the $8,000 in fundraising needed.

Prayer Items

  • Sermon: Pray that we would respond to God’s Word with obedience, experience His power in our lives, and be willing to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.

  • Mission News: Pray for our missionaries serving in different regions. Ask God to strengthen them, provide for their needs, and guide them as they share the gospel.

  • Steve’s Health: Pray for Steve as he awaits a treatment plan for a tumour. Give thanks for his good spirits, and ask for peace, wisdom for the doctors, and strength for his family.
