Announcements

1. A warm welcome to everyone who joined us this morning. We are delighted to see you all.

2. Special General Meeting: To be held on Sunday, 31 August at 12:30pm. That day will be a combined worship service, and the Special General Meeting will begin immediately after the service concludes. We earnestly ask all members to reserve time to attend and vote on the Church Constitution Update.

Notices have been sent today via email, post, or in-person distribution. From 18 August onwards, members may contact the church administrator to check their eligibility to vote (i.e. attendance rate must exceed 50% over the past 52 weeks).

If you are unable to attend the Special General Meeting on the day, you may authorise another eligible member (whose attendance rate is also over 50%) to attend and vote on your behalf. Please fill out the proxy form enclosed with the notice and submit it to the church in person, by post, or by emailing a PDF copy to hwc@holywordchurch.org.nz no later than 12:30pm on 30 August. Proxy forms received after this deadline will be considered invalid.

Due to time constraints, there will be no Q&A session on the day of the Special General Meeting.

Please uphold this meeting in prayer, asking the Lord to graciously guide and bless its proceedings.

3. 58th Baptism will be held on 05/10 as a combined service for all three congregations. For those who want to be baptised, please contact any Pastors, Deacons or your Small Group Leaders. The deadline is 24/08. All baptism applicants are required to have their nurturing course completed. Once an application is received, baptism class will be arranged and the deacons will meet with you to confirm your faith. Please also contact us if you would like to have your church membership transferred to HWC or would like to have child dedication.

4. 2026 Equip conference is now open for registration. is a 5-day non-residential conference designed to help you understand and teach the Bible better. There are 4 strands

- Strand 4: Exploring how the Bible speaks to ethical issues i.e. how to live out God's word in God’s world.

For the first-time participant, you will need to first go on strand 1, then in your second year, you will go on strand 2 so on and so forth. For students in Years 9–13, there's also a Youth Strand, which covers the basics of Bible study. Giving

Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.

Prayer Items

  • Sermon – Seek the Flourishing of the City! (Jeremiah 29:1-14): Pray that we would seek the peace, prosperity, and spiritual renewal of our communities, trusting in God’s plans for hope and a future.

  • Special General Meeting (SGM): Pray for unity, wisdom, and God’s guidance as we discuss and decide on our Constitution updates.

  • Baptism: Give thanks for those preparing for baptism and pray that their faith would grow deeper as they publicly declare their commitment to Christ.

  • Pray for Steve: The doctor confirmed that the newly discovered colon tumour is not a recurrence of the old cancer but a new growth, which can be removed by surgery. The mass on the liver requires further checks, but the doctor is not too concerned. Please pray for:

    • A clear MRI scan in the coming two weeks, especially for clarity on the liver mass.

    • The upcoming colon tumour surgery — that it will go smoothly and not be as complex as the last surgery.

    • God’s continued mercy and guidance throughout the whole treatment process, including the arrangement of chemotherapy afterwards.
