Announcements

1. A warm welcome to everyone who joined us this morning. We are delighted to see you all

2. The 24th Annual General Meeting and the 13th Deacon Election: The AGM will be held on Saturday, 26 July 2025 at 1:30 PM. The official notice was distributed yesterday via email, post, and hand delivery. From today onward, members may enquire with the church administrator to check their eligibility to vote, which requires that they are over 18 years of age and have attended at least 50% of worship services in the past 52 weeks. If any member has questions regarding the documents, please submit a signed letter via email to the Deacons Board at hwc@holywordchurch.org.nz by 19 July 2025. We sincerely invite all members to reserve the time and attend the meeting, so that together we may faithfully care for our church and its ministries. Please pray for the smooth running of the AGM.

3. Cross-Cultural Mission Work: This year, we are excited to partner with CMINZ in their cross-cultural mission work, serving Muslim refugee families. As part of this initiative, we’ll be spending a Saturday morning (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM) with the children at the Wesley Community Centre.

The first hour will be dedicated to going through some engaging study materials together, helping to build connection and learning. In the second hour, we’ll enjoy some fun time with them through sports and other interactive activities.

4. Open Forum Continues Today: We’re now in the second session of our Open Forum series in preparation for the upcoming AGM. Last week, we looked at the church budget. Today’s focus will be on the church constitution. These forums provide a space to learn, ask questions, and share feedback on important matters. Join us today and next Sunday (13/7 and 20/7) after service as we continue these conversations together.

5. Overseas Mission and Hardship Fund Financial Report for June 2025

Giving

Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.

Mission News

  1. S & C – It is now summer break, and ministry work has entered another busy season. Pray that the Lord would strengthen and empower them, and preserve each coworker to be faithful in their roles—shepherding students and parents—so that the gospel may be widely shared.

  2. H & P – They have arrived safely in New Zealand and had a fruitful meeting with the pastors last week, which gave us a clearer understanding of their ministry plans and vision. Pray for God’s protection during their time of furlough in New Zealand, and that more people would become aware of the needs on the mission field.

  3. Pastor Janet Tam – Although the First Chinese Baptist Church continues to welcome new visitors to worship services, the turnover rate is high and few are committed long-term. Pray that the Lord would grow the church and increase the number of seekers and those who come to salvation.

  4. H & Y – The environment in their mission field is becoming increasingly challenging, and they are caring for a growing number of seekers and trainees. Pray that the Lord would grant them wisdom and good health so that their ministry would glorify God and bless others.

  5. Please remember the coworkers and leaders of the churches in Tanzania and Ethiopia. Pray that the Lord would strengthen and empower them to lead their churches and faithfully shepherd the flock.

  6. Nicholas Yao – After a recent student conference organised by his ministry, many students expressed a desire to follow Christ—thanks be to God! Pray that the Lord would establish their faith and stir in them a deeper love for the Lord.

Prayer Items

  1. Give thanks for the message from Psalm 23 we heard this morning. Pray that we would trust deeply in the Lord as our Shepherd who provides, protects, and walks with us through every season. May His faithful commitment give us comfort, confidence, and renewed dependence on Him.

  2. Pray for our upcoming mission initiative with CMINZ as we serve Muslim refugee families. Ask God to prepare our hearts to love and serve with humility and grace. Pray that our time with the children at the Wesley Community Centre will be filled with joy, meaningful connections, and opportunities to reflect Christ’s love.

  3. Pray for our missionaries: refer to the Mission News above.
