A warm welcome to everyone who joined us this morning. We are delighted to see you all.
Bible and politics — TNT starts again for adults today. For 5 weeks, we will dig into the Bible to learn how, as God’s people, we can navigate some key political issues of our day. Let’s come and learn together.
3 Strands — Calling for all ladies! Our next 3 Strands gathering will be on Saturday 31 October at 10am at church. We will start the day with a little Zumba exercise, followed by a Saturday Swap (much like a Sunday market) where we will do an exciting swap of DIY goodies!
Worship Night | 13 November | 7:30–9:30pm | Main Hall — Come and join us for a night of worship and prayer on 13 November from 7:30 to 9:30pm at our church main hall. Together, we’ll fix our eyes on Jesus, remember who God is, and find rest in Him — trusting that He will lead us as we step into whatever comes next.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with different roles, including ushers, someone to prepare snacks, sound, and slides. If you’re interested in serving in any of these areas, please contact Pastor Herman.Special Overseas Giving and Hardship Fund — September 2026 Financial Report

6. 2026 Mission Month Response Summary — Thank you to the 33 brothers and sisters who responded. Of these, 27 are willing to pray for the missionaries we support, and 2 are willing to be more involved in the work of the Mission Department. On pledges, Overseas Mission (M4) has received $24,450, exceeding the target of $21,950. Thank God for His provision. Local Mission (M3) has received $8,400, which is still short of the $24,569 target. We ask God to move more brothers and sisters to take part in local mission. Everything is by God’s grace, and may all glory be to Him.
Giving
Let us remember the joy of giving and the blessings it brings to both the giver and the receiver. Tithe offering is a duty of all Christians. By giving, we honour God and fulfill His work through our church. May God bless the offering we willingly give. For more details on how you can give, please visit our church website: https://holywordchurch.org.nz/en/giving.
Mission Prayer Items (October 2026)
Pray that God will continue to sustain S&C in their life and ministry on the field, helping them to see His work even in the ordinary moments of daily ministry. Pray that God will strengthen their relationships with local people and give them patience and joy as they faithfully live out the gospel in different circumstances.
Please pray for the recovery of the community H&P serve following the recent flooding, especially for families who have been affected, that God will provide for their needs. Pray also for wisdom and strength as they reschedule their gospel activities, particularly the Mission Day on 18 October. May God watch over the children and families from the Chinese and English classes and help them experience His care in this difficult time.
Pray for God’s strength, wisdom and clarity for Rev Janet as she prepares for retirement and works through the various arrangements for handing over the ministry. Pray also for Pastor Du Wenhan and his wife as they apply for their work visas, that they will be able to come to Sri Lanka soon to continue the ministry among the Chinese church. Please also pray for the Taiwan short-term mission team, that God will use their ministry to give more people opportunities to hear the gospel.
Pray that God will sustain H&Y in their current season of work, preparation and family responsibilities, and help them experience His provision in each area. Pray that He will continue to guide them step by step in the direction ahead, and that they will remain committed to their calling to cross-cultural mission as they wait and prepare.
Pray for Nic Yao. Pray that God will continue to work among university students, helping the students Nic serves to grow in their faith and raising up more students who are willing to follow Christ and lead others. Pray also for wisdom and strength for Nic as he faithfully serves in campus ministry during the new semester.
Give thanks for God’s work through this year’s Mission Month. Thirty-three brothers and sisters responded to the survey, with many committing to pray for our missionaries and some expressing interest in serving through the Mission Department. We also give thanks for God’s generous provision for overseas mission giving, which has exceeded the target. Pray that God will continue to move more people to support local mission, where there is still a significant gap, and help us to live out our calling as a sent people beyond Mission Month.
Prayer Items for this Week
Pray that we would know deeply that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, simply because He decided to set His love on us, and not because of anything we have done or achieved.
Pray that we would rest in the assurance of being God’s beloved children, and let go of the need to prove our worth by what we achieve or earn.
Pray that as we begin the new series Life of the Beloved, God would open our hearts to receive His love and show us what He wants to accomplish through us.
