Today is the deadline for collection of new toys for a charitable organisation called “Little Sprouts”. This organisation will donate these toys to children from less privileged families for Christmas. We encourage brothers and sisters to purchase new toys for the collection event to support Little Sprouts and show Jesus’ love to these families. Click here for more information.
Holy Word Church is collaborating with other churches to host a games stall at the Christmas Wonder Park event, which will take place on 14th December from 3:30-9:30 pm, at Barry Curtis Park, Chapel Road, Flat Bush. There will be food stalls, performance, games and Christmas walk-through. Brothers and sisters are welcomed to bring families and friends to participate.
Creative Journey (CJ) will be using our church this coming Thursday (5 Dec) from 5:30 pm to 10 pm, holding a concert of their children choir “Young Voices”. CJ wishes to invite all brothers and sisters to attend the concert at 7:30 pm. Free admission.
Holy Communion has been rescheduled to next week's English service (8th December) because of camp.
Mission Information
Pastor Janet is arranging a mission trip to a primary school in southern Sri Lanka. May God lead the team and prepare their hearts to serve and build His Church.
Pray for Tanzanian Chinese Christian International Church as they are preparing a new project including a culture centre, library and three additional classrooms. May God use the Chinese school and other future classes including theology courses to edify the believers and bless more Chinese people.
Please remember James Che who has begun the sixth cycle of chemotherapy. Thank God for the favourable treatment response. If God wills, James will return to Tanzania around mid-January next year to continue the mission work there.
Please pray for our fellow brothers and sisters who are going on mission trips this summer; Marco (Taiwan), Daniel, Jeri, Johnny (Nelson), Luke (Auckland), Pastor Paul Wong (Turkey). May God strengthen their hearts to bear testimonies for Him, give them physical and spiritual health and let them experience His presence.
Prayer Items for the Week
The new church motto for the next 2 years - “Renew Our Lives. Become His Disciples”. Pray that brothers and sisters can live out this motto.
Please pray for pastoral recruitment for the Cantonese and English services, as well as the visa application process of the newly recruited pastors for the Mandarin and Cantonese services.
Church Expansion: Give thanks to the Lord, our new building has passed the Council’s final inspection. We are now in the process of applying for the Certificate of Code of Compliance (CCC). Please continue to pray for this final phase of the project.
Pray for the “Door-knocking ministry”, where members reach out to residents in Flat Bush every fourth Saturday afternoon and every second Wednesday afternoon of the month.
Pray for Rev Mark Wen and his wife peace for their holiday in December.
Holidays are coming up, brothers and sisters may be travelling domestically and internationally, please pray for their safety during this time.
