Announcements

  1. Ordination of Pastor E T Wong as Reverend: The deacon board has recognised Pastor E T’s many years of faithfully serving and teaching from the bible, and has unanimously voted to ordain Pastor E T as Reverend. A Special General Meeting (SGM) will be held on 31 March at 12:15 pm. According to the rule 4 of the Holy Word Church Members’ Rule book, a quorum of over two-thirds is required for the ordination to be effective. Notice of the SGM has been sent to all members.

  2. Deacon Board Nominees: The deacon board nomination committee has received acceptances from the upcoming deacon board nominees. The nominees are: Franklin Fung, Wynne Wong, Liz Ma, Amy Yeung and Coleman Lam. If you would like to provide any feedback to the deacon board nomination committee, you may provide written feedback to Pastor Tong Yeung by 21 April.

  3. Church Expansion: Any brothers and sisters who have pledged or would like to contribute to the church expansion can do so by transferring your offering to the church building account with “church expansion” as a reference.

  4. Our church is hosting a series of events to celebrate our 25th Anniversary:

    1. Photos Display: We are encouraging brothers and sisters to submit any photos regarding any memories that they have in relation to the church for the past 25 years.  We will be compiling all the photos and make a display in the church. More details to come.

    2. Praise Event: Date: 19th May. Time:  3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. We are welcoming any individuals, groups, fellowships to participate in performing a hymn or music as a praise offering to our God. Each congregation has a limit of 7 performance in total. Application deadline: 28th April.

    3. Church anniversary celebration dinner: 19th May night, will be hosted at Imperial Palace at Mt Wellington. It will be free for all children age 0-4. From age 5-10, $10; 11 or above, $20. Seats are limited, please register as soon as possible. Participants must attend to church meetings.

  5. The church is supporting a couple J&P who will enter the mission field at the end of June this year. In the year 2018-19 we have budgeted NZ$6,000 to support their ministry. At the moment our Overseas Mission account balance is NZ$5,400, so we still need another $600 before the end of this month to make the payment in time. Please remember this in your prayer and contribute (use the blue offering slip)  as the Spirit moves. Please note that donations to this account is not tax rebatable.

  6. The 48th Baptism will be held on 21 April 2019. Brothers and sisters who want to get baptised please apply to the pastoral team or deacons. Deadline for application is next Sunday (24 March). Applicants are required to complete the church's nurturing course, and those who have not started the course should contact the pastors or deacons. Applications for church membership and children dedication are also open.

  7. Pastor ET is away preaching at Auckland Christian Mandarin Church this morning.

  8. Pray for Christchurch:

    1. Pray for the Muslim families facing injuries and loss.

    2. Pray for peace to have victory over fear, anger or guilt.

    3. Pray that God will reveal Himself in a special way to the people.

    4. Pray that God will bless the ministry that has been thrust upon churches to help those affected.

    5. Pray for those who live in darkness for their hearts have never known Jesus.

Mission News 

  1. Pray for missionaries:

    a. Remember the ministry of S&C and pray for the peace of the family.

    b. Pray for J&P as they prepare for their mission work to commence in June this year. Their first year of expenses is expected to be $89,000, pray for God’s providence.

    b. Pray for Pastor Janet Tam as she continues with the learning of the local language. May God give her wisdom.

    c. Pray for James Che and his wife for their ministry in Africa. May God strengthen them to shepherd the church.

    d. Pray for the 9-day medical mission trip (4–12 June 2019) to Vanuatu organized by Care Ministries International (CMI). Four members have signed up for the mission trip. May God guide their preparation.

    e. Pray for all missionaries in China for their safety

  2. Pray for global mission:

    a. Pray for the Chinese government to ease their pressure on Christians in China.

    b. Pray for the church and missionaries in China to keep their faith amidst the difficult times.

Prayer Items for the Week

  1. Pray for the nominated deacon candidates. May God choose his faithful servants according to his will.

  2. Pray for the church expansion executive team and the contractor. May God keep the construction safe and give us one heart and one vision to complete the project.

  3. Our church is approaching our 25th Anniversary, Let’s give our thanksgiving to our Lord and pray that God will bless us with more wisdom in the coming years to do more for the Kingdom of God.
