The new budget of the church expansion project presented at the SGM held on 17th February 2019 has been passed. It was also accepted that the church will start the construction if it collects a pledge of $60,660.79 within 2 weeks from SGM. You may transfer the money to the building account of Holy Word Church with your name and ”church expansion” as the reference.
We now invite brothers and sisters to pray for the expansion plan and provide your financial support. Please complete the pledge offering form here by 3 March 2019. The church hopes to receive payments within 2 months after the SGM. Alternatively, you can specify the date of payment.
The 48th Baptism will be held on 21 April 2019. Brothers and sisters who want to get baptised please apply to the pastoral team or deacons. Deadline for application is 24 March. Applicants are required to complete the church's nurturing course, and those who have not started the course should contact the pastors or deacons. Applications for church membership and children dedication are also open.
Church Choir Recruitment: To celebrate the church’s 25th Anniversary, Sacred Music Department will assemble a church choir of all 3 congregations to perform on 19 May 2019. It is now open for registration and will require an audition to be accepted. The deadline for registration is 3 March 2019; audition date is 9 March (Saturday) at 4:30 pm; and the first practice will be 16 March (Saturday) at 4 pm. Please contact Jenny Ip or Kevin Lee for details.
The 2019 Children's Sunday School will start next Sunday. All students must attend the opening ceremony at 10:30 am at the Upper Hall. Parents and family members are welcome to join the ceremony. Thanks to all the parents who enrolled their children last week. Today is the last enrollment day. Please bring your children to Room 1 upstairs for registration by 12:30 pm.
Pastor Mark Wen is on annual leave from 19 February to 20 March.
Showers of Blessing Evangelistic Ministry (SOBEM) is showing two movies of Christian testimonies “Because You were still here” and “Imprints” at 8 pm on 1 March at Hoyts Cinema (Botany Downs). Tickets are available for sale and further information is up on the poster.
Mission News
Pray for missionaries:
a. Remember the ministry of S&C and pray for the peace of the family.
b. Pray for Pastor Janet Tam as she continues with the learning of the local language. May God give her wisdom.
c. Pray for James Che and his wife for their ministry in Africa. May God strengthen them to shepherd the church.
d. Pray for the 9-day medical mission trip (4–12 June 2019) to Vanuatu organized by Care Ministries International (CMI). Four members have signed up for the mission trip. May God guide their preparation.
Pray for global mission:
a. Pray for the Chinese government to ease their pressure on Christians in China.
b. Pray for the church and missionaries in China to keep their faith amidst the difficult times.
Prayer Items for the Week
Pray for the nominated deacon candidates. May God choose his faithful servants according to his will.
Pray for the church expansion executive team and the contractor. May God keep the construction safe and give us one heart and one vision to complete the project.
Two religious groups are emerging in the neighborhood of our church. Please pray for our vigilance and our hearts to evangelize.
