The recruitment of a senior pastor, Cantonese pastor and English pastor for youth ministry is advertised on various platforms, including newspapers, seminaries, church group e-mails and Facebook. Please pray earnestly for the recruitment.
The mission department is now recruiting 5 members to assist the 9-day medical mission trip (4–12 June 2019) to Vanuatu organized by Care Ministries International (CMI). Please contact Pastor Mark for detail. The deadline for registration is 3 February.
Those who donated to the overseas mission fund and charitable trust between August and November 2018 can now obtain receipts (not tax-deductible) from Amy Yeung.
The “Word of Life” bible reading course held by China Graduate School of Theology is open for enrollment. This semester’s topic is “Leviticus”. The course is conducted in Cantonese. It will run from 12 March to 7 May 2018 on Tuesday nights from 7:45–9:45 pm. (Break on 23 April), at Chinese Alliance Christian Church. Cantonese and Mandarin Services will be hosting a CNY celebration night on 9 Feb. Potluck dinner starts at 6:30 pm, and performance starts at 7:30 pm.
Mission News
Pray for missionaries:
a. Remember the ministry of S&C and pray for the peace of the family.
b. Pray for Pastor Janet Tam as she continues with the learning of the local language. May God give her wisdom.
c. Pray for James Che and his wife for their ministry in Africa. May God strengthen them to shepherd the church.
Pray for global mission:
a. Pray for the Chinese Christian Church in Tanzania, which is now recruiting students for the Chinese class. May God use the church to gain more non-believers.
b. Pray for the Sri Lanka Chinese Baptist Church. May the Lord build up the congregation with more talented leaders.
Prayer Items for the Week
Pray for the nominated deacon candidates. May God choose his faithful servants according to his will.
Pray for the church expansion executive team and the contractor. May God keep the construction safe.
Two religious groups are emerging in the neighborhood of our church. Please pray for our vigilance and our hearts to evangelize.
Thank God Sister Tong’s well-being is pretty good after chemotherapy. May God give her speedy recovery as she moves to her son’s home in Hamilton for further treatment.
Sister Lai is thankful for having a nurse that speaks her own language to look after her after the bypass surgery. She is recovering steadily. May God heal her soon.
Pray for the brothers and sisters travelling overseas over the holiday. May God bless them with a safe and pleasant trip.
