  1. A warm welcome to everyone who joined us this morning. We are delighted to see you all.

  2. Mid-Autumn Festival Community Outreach Event: Cantonese Mission Dept. and Community Outreach Team are co-hosting a Mid-Autumn Festival event on Saturday, 30 September. The theme is "Mid-Autumn Hong Kong-style Food FUN FUN Day." The event will take place from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. There will be a variety of delicious foods and game stalls for children available. Brothers and sisters are encouraged to bring family, relatives, and neighbors, and invite friends who are interested in the Gospel. Entrance fee is $10 per person, and free for children of five and under. For more details, please refer to the poster. For inquiries or ticket purchase please contact Samantha Chan (Cantonese), Amy Tong or Sharon Chan (English), or Sean Wang (Mandarin).

  3. The Mission Department has uploaded this year's Mission Month booklet onto the church website for everyone's reference. The English version can be accessed at www.holywordchurch.org.nz/en/mission. In consideration of some members who may have difficulty reading online, the department has also prepared some printed copies, which are available at the usher’s desk for your convenience. Feel free to take a copy.

  4. Mission Month Offering Pledge: The budgeted expenditure for M4 of this fiscal year is NZ$31,100.00. Therefore, we are introducing the Mission Offering Pledge Card, allowing brothers and sisters to pledge their contributions based on faith for this fiscal year. This initiative will enable the department to effectively develop ministries for this year and the next. Pledge cards have been placed at the usher’s desk. When making your pledge, please follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, fill out the pledge card, and then place it in the offering box. Alternatively, you can submit your pledge online at www.holywordchurch.org.nz/mission-pledge. The deadline for collecting pledge cards and online pledges is September 30th.

  5. Pastor ET will be starting a new TNT at 11am today. We will be going through a book written by Mark Dever and Jamie Dunlop about how we can become a compelling community that we all desire. Here is a link to the notes:

Mission News

  1. Praise God! Even though this year's Mission Month has come to a successful conclusion, may all members understand God's will, which is for all people to be saved. Let us pray that the Lord will continue to guard the missionary hearts of each individual, inspire our zeal for sharing the Gospel, and expand His kingdom.

  2. Please pray for this year's offering pledge, asking the Lord to touch the hearts of brothers and sisters to meet this year's target.

  3. Please remember to pray for the planning of next year's ministries in our department.

  4. Please keep in your prayers the missionaries we support, asking the Lord to use them and grant them His empowering grace.

We have also prepared printed copies in English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese, available at the front desk.
    Mission Department’s budget for M4 this year is $31,100. To enable the department to carry out ministry more effectively, we have pledge offering cards available for brothers and sisters to pledge the full amount of their offering for the year. You may find the ledge offering cards at the front desk. Please complete the card under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and put it into the offering box, or you may submit your pledge online at www.holywordchurch.org.nz/mission-pledge. The deadline for pledge offering is September 30th.

  3. 54th Baptism will be held on 1st October as a combined service for all three congregations. For those who want to be baptised, please contact any Deacon, Pastor or your Small Group Leader. The deadline is today 27th August. All applicants are required to have their nurturing course completed. Once an application is received, baptism class will be arranged and the deacons will meet with you to confirm your faith. Please also contact us if you would like to have your church membership transferred to HWC or would like to have child dedication.

  4. A free community seminar will be held on Saturday, 2nd September at 10am-12pm. The topic is “Introduction to NZ Border Control and Food Safety”. It is about importing requirement and how to declare food and medicine entering NZ. The talk will be conducted in Cantonese. It is suitable for all ages and a refreshment will provide after the seminar. All brothers and sisters are welcome to invite family members, relatives, friends, colleagues and neighbours to join. Please refer to the poster for details or contact Desmond Lee for queries.

  6. 30th anniversary of HWC in May 2024: One of the celebration items is the Anniversary Magazine with the theme "Love & Legacy." The church encourages all brothers and sisters to participate and express gratitude through written words. Share their experiences of God's presence, the love from God, and between brothers and sisters. The editing team welcomes submissions in different format (poems/lyrics/hymns). The word limit for essay is 1,000 words, with content that aligns with the theme. Please send the article in English and Chinese to the church's email address: hwc@holywordchurch.org.nz. The deadline for submissions is 30th September.
    The organizing committee members are: Nancy Choy, Phoebe Lam, Sean Wang, Sarah Li , Sharon Chan and Sally Che. Details about other activities will be announced later.

  7. Congregation News: Sister 劉玉堅, who was baptized in Holy Word Church, passed away on 19th August. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 29th August at 10 a.m. May the Lord comfort the family.

Mission News

  1. Thank you the Lord for leading the missionary month’s arrangements and events successfully. May the Lord strengthen our missionary heart and let us continue to spread out the gospel and expand the Kingdom of God!

  2. Please pray for this year’s M4 budget of $31,100.00, and encourage everyone to donate this year’s tax refund to M4 which supports 4 groups of missionaries.

  3. May the Lord motivate the hearts of all brothers and sisters to accomplish this year’s offering card pledging.

  4. Please pray for all memebers of the Mission department that the Lord to empower and lead HWC becomes a missionary church.


Prayer Items for the Week

  1. Pray for the new deacons, that the Lord would give them a heart of servant and spiritual wisdom to serve brothers and sisters and lead them to build up the church.

  2. Pray for the gospel needs of the North Shore as more Cantonese-speaking people move there. The mission fields are vast, let's seek God's guidance together and help us see what is needed.

  3. Pray for everyone to strive to practice the theme of the year,: Love as He Loved • Love with His Love.
