  2. Committee on Duty: Sally Che

  3. Rev. Herbert Wong (Rev. ET’s father) passed away on 8th October, aged 71 years. The funeral service will be held at 2pm today, at Auckland Christian Mandarin Church Henderson to commemorate the wonderful life that he had led. Rev. ET and his family would like quiet time during this period, please do not call or visit them. Please send your condolence cards or messages to the Church, and it will be passed to his family on your behalf.

  4. Mission Pledge: This year the Mission Department aims to donate $29,000 to overseas missionaries (M4) and is accepting mission pledges from brothers and sisters. Mission Pledge can be made either by filling in the pledge cards at the ushers’ desk or through our website www.holywordchurch.org.nz/mission-pledge. Contributions on pledged amounts should be made by March 2023. Please note that M4 donations are not eligible for tax refunds.

  5. Spring BBQ: The care department will be hosting a Spring BBQ on Sunday 23rd October from 5-7pm. We encourage you to invite your friends and family to join. Registration form is on the front desk, sign up closes today. For more details, please contact Jenny Ip and Coleman Lam.

    • Cost: $18 Adults, $8 ages 6-10, free for ages 5 or under

  7. Cantonese Livestream will end on 6th November 2022. The sermon recording can be revisited in the Facebook page after the worship service.

  8. Psalm Reading: It’s the last month! We will continue to read and meditate on one psalm a day, for 150 days. This complements our study of Psalms this year. The new reading calendar for October can be downloaded here.

  9. Praise the Lord! Visa for the new pastor from Hong Kong has been issued. Our Lord listened to the prayers of brothers and sisters, and His blessing for our church is abundant. We hope the pastor can start the new role in the Cantonese congregation soon.

  10. Administrator Stanely Yu will take a leave in lieu on 17th October.

  11. External News: Pakuranga Chinese Baptist Church’s evangelism rally will be held on 29th October. The topic is “The Warmth Amidst the Pandemic”.


Mission News

  1. The Mission Department will be raising funds for missionaries. Please pray for the heart of mission of brothers and sisters. It is encouraged that the tax rebate obtained from the donations to church may be used to support M4 mission.

  2. Pray for the “North Shore mission”. May God prepare Holy Word Church to become an Antioch Church 2.0 that embraces mission.

  3. Pray for the missionaries: S&C’s serving in difficult circumstance, H&P’s will start teaching an online missionary course this week, Pastor Janet Tam’s mission work in South Sri Lanka, and Pastor James and his wife’s ministry in Tanzania and Fiji.

  4. Pray for the Tanzanian Chinese Church for purchasing the land of their church building. May the Lord prepare and provide for the church.

  1. Pray for our new Cantonese pastor so that everything will be well arranged for her to start her pastoral role soon.

  2. The Church Theme for the next two years is: Love as He Loved • Love with His Love. May we focus and act on this theme in our daily lifes to love one another.

  3. Pray for pastoral recruitment for the Senior Pastor and English Service Pastor.

  4. Pray for the Psalm reading plan. May God give us the determination to follow the plan and let us learn about Him more deeply so we will worship and praise Him more.

  5. The memorial service for Pastor ET’s father will commence this afternoon. Please remember his family in your prayers. May the Lord console them and give them peace.

  4. May God send a suitable pastor to lead the Tanzanian Chinese Church in Tanzania.
