Next Sunday’s Mission Month combined service has been moved online due to the current pandemic situation. Please note that service will begin at 10am on Sunday 29th August.
The 52nd Baptism will be held on 3rd October as a combined service from all three congregations. For those who wants to be baptised, please contact any Deacon, Pastor or your Small Group Leader. Deadline is 5th September. All applicants are required to have their nurturing course completed. Once an application is received, baptism class will be arranged and the deacons will meet with you to confirm your faith. Please also contact us if you would like to have your church membership transferred to HWC or would like to have child dedication.
The 11th Deacon Board election took place in the AGM on 14th August. 7 of the 11 nominated deacon candidates each received more than 50% votes, and thus constitute the new Deacon Board. The new deacons are: Cassandra Lee, Sally Che, Jenny Ip, KC Li, Sean Wang, Tony Yeung and Wynne Wong. All agenda items were also passed in the AGM.
Mid Autumn Festival Celebration night: We will have a Hong Kong style BBQ to be held on 18th September (Saturday) 4:30PM to 8:30PM. We welcome all brother and sisters and feel free to invite your friends. There will be a Creative Lantern competition and kids-friendly activities.
Pricing: Adults and 12 years old or over $15 each; under 12 years old $10 each; Under 5 years old free of charge.

Church Camp: We are excited to announce that the church camp this year will be held at the Peter Snell Youth Campsite from Friday 3rd December to Sunday 5th December. Put it in your calendars and diaries and more information on the theme and registration will be coming out shortly. Please pray for the camp theme development process, that the theme developed would be applicable to us and our hearts can be engaged to respond to the work of the Holy Spirit.
#AskPastorET: From September to October, we will run a series call #AskPastorET at 11am on Sunday (our usual TNT time). Pastor ET will address any questions you may have, whether it relates to theology, difficult Bible passages, life issues, our church, current events or any other matters He will help us think through these questions from a Biblical perspective. We want to collect your questions throughout the week and ET will pick one or two, or more, to answer each week. So fire through your questions!

May the Lord use His servants that all brother & sisters in Christ understand M1-M4 missionary and to commit, to expand the Kingdom of God together.The budget of this year’s M4 mission is $24,500. Pledge offering for Aug 2021 to Mar 2022 can be submitted to the offering box, or on our website at www.holywordchurch.online/mission-pledge Submission deadline is 31st August 2021. Should the pledge offering exceeds our budget this year, Mission department will consider supporting another pair of missionaries in the Muslim community.
Rev Janet Tam needs to apply for a special category visa to enter Sri Lanka because border restrictions have tightened as a result of the severe COVID-19 situation in the country. Please pray for her visa application and may God guide her way.
Prayer Items for the Week
Pray for the current COVID-19 situation in New Zealand. May God heal the infected people, and by His mercy, settle the pandemic soon.
The deacon board for the next term has been elected. May the Lord strengthen their heart, to serve the Lord and the church in His will.
The motto for this year will remain the same as previous year. Pray that brothers and sisters can live out the church motto this year - "Renew our lives, become His disciples."
Pray for pastoral recruitment for the Senior Pastor and English service pastor.
A new pastor has been hired for the Cantonese service. Please pray for her application of the work visa. May God give her peace in her wait.
