  3. Good Friday Service will be held next Friday 2 April, 8pm to 9:30pm. The theme is “Reconciliation on the Cross”. Program includes singspiration, sermon, and Holy Communion.

  4. Baptism 51st Baptism will be held next Sunday 4 April, 10am as a combined service. The following brothers and sisters will get baptised:
    Cantonese Service: Cheung Him, Cindy Cheung
    English Service: Jessica Gu, Nicholas Yao, Edward Gee, Landy Zheng
    Mandarin Service: Chris Guo

  5. Deacon Election: Election for a new term of deacons will be held in our AGM this year. According to the church rule book, 8 deacons will be elected. Invitation letters were sent to all the members who meets the requriements for deacon election from the deacon nomination committee, and the following members have accepted the invitation:

    Cantonese Service: KK Fong, KC Li, Pastor Tony Yeung, Jenny Ip and Cassandra Lee

    Mandarin Service: Wynne Yum, Selina Mak, Joey Lin, Jeff Wei, Sean Wang and Jia Li

    English Service: Sally Che

    If there are any objections to the above list, please make a written appeal to the deacon board by letters or emails before the 29th of April. All appeals need to be named, otherwise they will not be processed. Please remember the whole process in your prayers.

  6. “Praying for Muslims in 30 Days” will be held during Ramadan from 13 April to 12 May. Please pray for this religious group together, and pray that God will send more servants to serve them, so that they can benefit from the gospel.   7. Basketball: Mandarin congregation has organised a Basketball day on the 24th April from 5:15pm to 7:15pm at Farm Cove Intermediate School, Butley Drive, Farm Cove, Manukau 2012. The English and Cantonese congregations have been invited to participate. Two practice days have also been arranged for 20th March 2021 and 3rd April 2021 at the same time and place.

  8. Congregational news: Dallen and Sharon got married yesterday in the witness of family and friends. HWC wishes the new couple all the best in their marriage.

  9. Daylight Saving ends next Sunday, remember to put your clock backward by one hour.

Mission Information

  1. Please pray for the ministry of C. May God give her a suitable colleague. And pray she’ll be constantly strengthened.

  2. Please pray for H and P as they train the local Christians to take up mission work. And pray for all the disciples serving in the Muslim community, may God give them wisdom and courage.

  3. Please remember Rev Janet Tam’s trip to HK where she will report on her mission work, and pray for her work visa application.

  4. Pastor James Che health index isn’t satisfactory, and he’s trying a new medication. Please continue to pray for Pastor James Che’s health and recovery. And pray for Tanzania under the Covid 19 pandemic, may God have mercy on the people of the country.

  5. Pray for the missionaries in Myanmar which is currently going through political unrest.

  1. Pray for pastoral recruitment for the Senior Pastor.

  2. The motto for this year will remain the same as previous year. Pray that brothers and sisters can live out the church motto this year - "Renew our lives, become His disciples."

  3. A new pastor has been hired for the Cantonese service. Please pray for her application of the work visa. May God give her peace in her wait.

  3. 27th Anniversary Combined Worship Choir: To celebrate the church’s 27th Anniversary, Sacred Music Department will assemble a church choir of all 3 congregations to perform on 23 May. It is now open for registration and will require an audition to be accepted. The deadline for registration is 21 March; audition date is 3 April at 4:30 pm; choir members are required to attend at least 5 practice sessions, on 10 April, 17 April, 1 May, 8 May, 15 May from 4:30pm to 5:30pm, and 22 May 2:30pm to 3:15pm.   4. Due to the current alert level and in consideration of everyone’s wellbeing, a Children’s Growth and Development Seminar on Sunday, 7 March has been postponed to a later date. The new date will be announced when everything returns to normal. All parents are welcome. Click here to sign up.

  7. Mandarin Congregational Committee Restructure: Due to operational difficulties within the Mandarin congregational committee, the Deacon Board and Pastors have made the following decision: Wynne Wong (Chairperson and Fellowship Department Head) and Selina Mak (Children Ministry and Notetaker) will be stepping down from the congregational committee, including their roles of being the mentor for Little Lamb Fellowship and Children Sunday school principal, effective on the 1st of April. Coleman Lam from the Deacon Board and Pastor ET will be joining the Mandarin committee temporarily until the end of July to support and assist the committee. The new term of deacons will then continue to follow up starting in August. The church is very grateful to Wynne and Selina for their faithful service in the Mandarin Service for the past 19 years, but sadly such arrangement has to be made.

  8. English Congregation Pastoral Apprenticeship: Our brother Herman is studying Pastoral Leadership at Carey Baptist College this year. As part of his course, Herman will be undertaking an apprenticeship from the 26th March 2021 to 14th November 2021. Herman will be engaged in ministries such as preaching, pastoral care and leadership, church administration and outreach activities under the supervision of Rev. ET Wong. HWC is planning to support Herman financially and it will be present in the upcoming budget for 2021-22. Please continue to pray for Herman.
