  2. There will be morning tea after worship service in the hall upstairs. Feel free to stay behind and enjoy a time of fellowship.

  3. Offering Receipts: As mentioned earlier in the year, we will be sending out offering receipts via email. If you have not already registered your email with us, you may send an email to the church administrator Stanley Yu (hwc@holywordchurch.org.nz) with your name and stating whether you are a church member or non-member.

  4. Leadership Training: Pastor Philip Porter has started teaching a course equipping believers to become spiritual leaders. The training is conducted in English and held at our church on the following evenings: 11 June, 18 June, 9 July, 16 July and 23 July from 7:45 pm to 9.00 pm. Please register your interest at the ushers’ desk. If you wish to find out more please contact Kenneth Fong from the Cantonese Congregation.

  5. Baptism: An elder from the rest home Ambridge Rose Manor, Mr Jin, will be getting baptized at 10:30 am on Saturday 15th June in room 223 of the rest home (157 Edgewater Drive, Pakuranga). Everyone is invited to attend and witness the baptism for the glory of God.

Mission News 

  1. Vanuatu Short-term Mission Trip (4/06-12/06): Grace Gutry, KK Fong and Fion Fong are currently on the mission trip. Please remember them in your prayers. We have received a total offering of $1,700 in support of this mission trip.

  2. The target amount of funds raised for missionaries J&P this year has been achieved. They will be going to the mission field for their mission work and training at the start of July. May God guide their path and help them settle into the field.

  3. Pray for Pastor Janet Tam’s ministries. Things are slowly getting back to normal and meetings have been resumed at the church with police guarding at the door. She is now applying for the work visa for her second year. Please pray for God’s guidance.

  4. James Che and his wife have taken a leave of absence from the Tanzania Chinese Christian International Church. During this time, a Korean missionary couple will be shepherding the church. James and his wife are now back to New Zealand visiting churches and taking a rest. Please pray for the Tanzania Chinese Christian International Church, and for James’ health as he receives treatment in New Zealand.

  5. August Mission Month, topic will be “A Life of Mission”. Please pray for the speakers Karl Udy, Janet Tam and Rev Timothy Lim. May their preaching encourage our mission life.

Prayer Items for the Week

  1. With one of the nominated candidates having withdrawn from the upcoming candidacy, please pray that God would choose his faithful servants according to his will. Pray for the new deacons so they will serve God and the church faithfully.

  2. Pray for the church expansion executive team and the contractor. May God keep the construction safe and give us one heart and one vision to complete the project.

  3. Pray for the leadership training by Pastor Phillip Porter, the Tuesday Bible study group and the new TNT series. May God give us a heart to pursue His word.

  5. Deacon Board Nomination: Liz Ma is withdrawing from the up coming deacon board candidacy due to family reasons. The current nominated candidates are: Franklin Fung, Wynne Yum, Amy Kwok, and Coleman Lam.

  6. The Chinese Graduate School of Theology’s Australasia Seminar will be held at Chinese Alliance Christian Church, 60 Ben Lomond Cres, Pakuranga, on Saturday, 8 June, 8:00pm. The speaker is CGST’s president, Rev Dr Stephen Lee. The topic is “Prayer after God’s Heart”. This event will be conducted in Cantonese. All brothers and sisters are welcome.
