  1. English and Cantonese Sunday Service will be combined on 22 April at 10 am because of the English and Cantonese camps from 21 to 23 April.
  2. The Caring Department is organising an outing on Sunday 6 May at 2:30 pm at Roger Park, Eastern Beach. You may gather with us at church at 2 pm on the day or meet us directly at Roger Park at 2:30 pm. Brothers and sisters are welcomed to join. Please contact Yvonne Pau, Alex Ma or Cannas Ng for further information.
  3. Next year is the 25th anniversary of Holy Word Church. A special anniversary magazine will be published in July next year, with the theme "Be the salt and light". We are now calling for articles or messages from brothers and sisters. The word limit for each contribution is 1,000 words and the deadline is 30 September 2018. Articles may be written in English or Chinese and need to be sent to the church e-mail address at hwc@holywordchurch.org.nz. Please contact Mance Chan for further information.
  4. The church is recruiting members for the mission department and general maintenance department. If you would like to serve in these roles, this is a great opportunity. Please contact Timothy Yu if you are interested.
  5. The pastoral search committee is recruiting a pastor for the English congregation particularly for the needs of children and youth development. The committee will advertise the pastoral role on appropriate media platforms. Please keep this in your prayer. Additional information has been posted on the church noticeboard.
  6. Congregation news:

i) Please pray for the three brothers Lin Qi Shi, Lin Xiao Hong and Lin Jun Jie. They had been accepted for Holy Word Church membership after the confirmation of their Christian faith by the pastoral team. However, they changed their decision on membership admission just before last Sunday's admission ceremony, because they felt that they were not ready yet. Please pray that they will be willing to become members of Holy Word Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

ii) Please pray for Michael Kwok from the Cantonese congregation. He is now into the fourth week of targeted chemotherapy and has been feeling very exhausted physically. Please pray for strength from God to sustain him for another two weeks of chemotherapy.

Mission Prayer Items

  1. Pray for Holy Word Church: that God will give us a heart of mission and love, and to have an urge to evangelise to lost souls who haven't believed in God yet.   
  2. Pray for North Korea:
    Pray for Almighty God to help the people living in poverty and emptiness.
    Pray for those who are preaching the Gospel, to persevere in their persecution and hardship.
    Pray for Truth to reign and God's righteousness to be revealed, so that the nation and the people will repent and turn to God.

  1. The church is recruiting members for the mission department and general maintenance department. If you would like to serve in these roles, this is a great opportunity. Please contact Timothy Yu if you are interested.
  2. English Congregation Pastoral Recruitment: Further to last week's family forum, the response indicated that brothers and sisters had no objection to the proposed recruitment of an additional English pastor. The Deacon board would now put forward the advertisement for the recruitment, which will speed up the recruitment process. Depending on the timing of soliciting an appropriate candidate, the Deacon board will then decide whether a special general meeting would be needed. 

Mission News

  1. From March to November 2018, the Mission department will launch HWC's "Mission Journey in Seven Minutes" program. The program will be on the 4th Sunday of each month except in April and August, which will be on the 3rd Sunday. 
    The program aims to help brothers and sisters understand a number of important aspects of mission, such as the impact of social status around the world, the importance of their needs, the significance of praying. The program hopes to enlighten us that our Lord loves the world, that there are people of different nations and the needs of these people. These objectives are achieved through:
    (a) Recordings of sharings from pastors and Mission department members;
    (b) A series of short films called Pray for All Nations;
    (c) Prayers from our church.
