1. Lunar New Year Celebration Night will be held tonight from 7:30 pm to 9:20 pm. The theme will be "Love, Joy, Life". Do invite family and friends to come. 
2. Camp registration is now OPEN! Click here to sign up. Early bird price until 11th March is $120 for students and $150 for working adults. You can pay by online bank transfer, or cash (see Dallen or Min Lee).
3. The 46th Baptism Service will be held on 1 April. If you would like to get baptised, please talk to your small group leader, the core group or Pastor ET. Registrations close on 4 March. We are also accepting church membership and children dedication registrations.
4. Children Sunday school will resume on 01 March 2018.
5. Mandarin Pastor recruitment: the Deacon Board has confirmed the appointment of Reverend Mark (Hong Sin) Wun to be our Mandarin Service pastor.  He will start next Tuesday, 20 February 2018.  Pastor Wun is experienced and has preached and served in Taiwan and Japan before.  He has served in Auckland Taiwanese Presbyterian Church prior.  Praise the Lord!  Please pray for Pastor Wun - May God give him strength and wisdom to serve in HWC.
6. The church is updating its first aider list. If you are a current first aider and would like to be included in case of need, please contact KC Li. The church appreciates your help. 
7. Church expansion update: Praise the Lord that Auckland Council has approved the building consent and we are now waiting for resource consent approval.

Prayer Items for the Week

1. Pray for brothers and sisters’ heart to apply the church motto in their life – Having the same mind as Christ.

2. Pray for a smooth resource consent application process for our church expansion project.

3. May God give all deacons, department heads and congregation committee the strength and wisdom to serve Him wholeheartedly. Also to unify and lead the church to become a light in the community.

4. Pray for the recruitment of a senior pastor. May God prepare a suitable pastor to minister to Holy Word Church.

5. Pray for the "door-knocking" team that goes out every Wednesday in the second week of the month.

3. The church will have a three congregation combined service on Good Friday 30 March at 10 am. As part of service, there will be a combined choir. All accepted members are reminded to attend practices at 4 to 5.30 pm on Saturdays from 10 February to 24 March. 

4. “Word of Life” bible reading course organised by China Graduate School of Theology will be launched in Auckland.  The topic is “Genesis - Everything Begins with the Covenant”. The course will be conducted in Cantonese.  The course will run from 10 April to 29 May 2018 on Tuesday nights from 7:45 to 9:45 pm. Location is at Chinese Alliance Christian Church. To be eligible you will need to have taken the 10-week nurturing course. We are also accepting church membership and children dedication registrations.

6. Progress on the Mandarin Pastor recruitment: The recruitment committee and the Deacon board have had comprehensive communications and a second interview with an applicant. May God send a suitable pastor to shepherd the Mandarin congregation.

Congregation News:

1. Praise the Lord for leading the medical team to conduct the following treatments on brother Michael Kwok: 1.) The brain tumour had been removed successfully. Michael will have an MRI scan on 14 Feb, and then undergo a 5-day targeted therapy from 5 March, in order to eradicate the residual tumour cells; 2.) The lung tumour was diagnosed as non-invasive. Michael is awaiting lung scans to check whether tumour cells exist in other lymph nodes. He will undergo a 4-week radiotherapy and a 2-week chemotherapy. Michael and his family would like to thank the brothers and sisters in Christ for the prayers.

External News:

1. A brother Elim Chan from CACC is starting a basketball class on Thursday night for 9 weeks. His goal is to help young people to improve at basketball, and get them to connect to different churches when they are young and develop a healthy attitude. If you are interested or would like to know more, please refer to the poster (click here).
2. RICE Movement (website) will be hosting a RICE rally in Auckland in August this year. It is a gospel event, which will unite young people from different churches, schools, and communities to see the gospel of Jesus proclaimed through a variety of creative elements such as music, dance, and art. RICE is inviting those who are passionate about the gospel and evangelism or just want to hear more about RICE, to the launch day on 3 March.
